McAlester Scottish Rite Work Division
Like the steel girder in the building, hidden by decorations but never seen, the Work Division is always there, supporting the Degrees, making things happen, and usually invisible.
The Degrees of the Scottish Rite are theatre, and theatre is illusion. But it takes skill, knowledge, and many dedicated men to make that illusion happen. Props have to be sorted, cleaned, repaired, and placed in position. The drops must be raised and lowered, set pieces such as chairs, thrones, even trees added, lighting adjusted--it is a long and intricate list.
Watching a scene change backstage is like watching a ballet--except that the dance partners are scenery and can weigh hundreds of pounds.
